Food Technology Overview
Year Ten
In year ten students develop their practical and
designing skills through a variety of design projects that involve
designing and making a product, based on a particular range.
Work Related Learning
To include work related
learning, students have a visit to a local company, to see how food
products are manufactured in quantity. Companies have included
Ginsters, Crantock Bakery and County Confectionary in St Ives. Marks
and Spencers come into school and participate in a product development
work shop.
Year Eleven
In year eleven the main focus is
on coursework. This accounts for 60% of the final mark. This is made up
of 20% design folder and 40% practical work. The design folder involves
researching a particular context and then developing ideas and
products.
The development of the idea enables students to produce a
successful end product which they can then consider for industrial
production.
When the coursework is finished, students focus on revision for their final exam in the summer.
