RLS Science Fair
British Science Week ran from 10-19 March and Richard Lander School celebrated with a Science Fair and a Year 7 Rollercoaster Challenge.
Ms Cornish held a Science Fair where small groups of students put on trade stands to demonstrate scientific topics. Subjects covered included lava lamps, magnets, the Galaxy, photosynthesis and non-Newtonian fluids along with a seed dispersal display complete with sound effects and a coil gun. Prizes will be awarded for the best inventions and 3D models in assemblies next week.
Ms N Steen, Head of Science, said ‘We were so impressed with the range of models and inventions the students came up with. It was clear that they had put a lot of effort into becoming experts in their field, with their enthusiastic explanations as we visited each stand. What great ambassadors for science we have at Richard Lander!’
Overall, it was a great week and students thoroughly enjoyed the STEM challenge.
