Curriculum: Mock Trial

Mock Trial Competition

On Friday 10th March, myself and a group of 15 year 9s attended Truro Magistrates’ Court to compete in the annual mock trial competition. Preparation for the competition included a trip to the Court to sit in on some interesting cases and tour the cells.
The group have been working hard over the last couple of months, often perfecting their roles in their own time.
All of them played their roles brilliantly and they took it all in their stride, even playing a game of cards in between sessions!
However, after an extremely close round, the shield was awarded to Looe Academy and they came second out of four schools overall.
They were all fantastic and Amber Jones, our budding barrister, was even complimented by Cornwall’s High Sheriff, for her performance as Prosecution Lawyer 1 after one of the rounds.
