Last half term the school sent four KS4 teams to the Penryn Schools Sports Partnership Badminton tournament at Truro School. Time constraints and a large number of entries from the local schools forced the tournament to be shorter than in recent years, with timed games being played. This did not suit us and just a few extra seconds may have given us a chance to make the finals but sadly we did not qualify this time.
The KS4 Boys A team was led by the County number one player, Harry Dyer, and they beat Helston, drew with Camborne and unfortunately lost the crucial final match against Truro School A by 3 games to 2. The boys B team fought valiantly against strong opposition and managed to win a few games but ultimately not enough to qualify.
The KS4 girls A team won 2 out of their matches, whilst the B team won 1 out of 3. Both had to play very strong Truro teams who defeated us comfortably to move into the final.
All those who played were a credit to the school with most of the students making their final appearance for the school as they leave us in the Summer.
We hope to enter again and should be able to take teams from both key stages next time around.
