Year 9 Boys Enjoy Hockey Success
Added 4 months ago
The Year 9 boys Hockey team visited Penair School to take part in the U14 County Hockey Tournament. It turned out to be a brilliant day with our boys putting in some great performances. In the group stages the team defeated both Bodmin and Penair 1-0, both goals coming from Lewis Hayes. This meant a semi-final against a very strong Mounts Bay team. In another tight game RLS once again gained a narrow 1-0 victory, Ethan Wildgoose grabbing the vital goal.
The other semi saw Truro School defeat Penair and another tough game lie ahead in the final. Our Richard Lander team played really well again and dominated large periods of the game and despite a few counter attacks from Truro, RLS looked most likely to win the trophy. After 22 minutes of playing the 2 sides could still not be separated and the game would be decided on penalty flicks. With the team not having had experience of these before, it wasn't a surprise that Truro school won this shoot out.
It was a great day of hockey from our 15 boys and they should be very proud of finishing runners up in this competition and of the outstanding way that they represented RLS. The team now look forward to taking part in the regional finals which will be held after half-term.
