Activities Week 2012
Activities Week 2012 started on Monday 9th July. Students choose a different activity for each day from over 50 very varied options. In school, these range from an Animation Workshop to Cake Pops (pictured above), from Creating a Demo CD or becoming a Science Detective to experimenting with Lego Mindstorms.
Many students also choose off site activities and spend a day cycling the Bissoe Trail, learning to surf or enjoying white-knuckle rides at Flambards or Crealy. Some students go even further afield, visiting Plymouth Aquarium or Longleat Safari Park. There is something for everyone!
Many activities are provided by members of staff who choose to share an extra-curricular hobby but Richard Lander also benefits from the expertise of professionals who come into school to share their talents. Nick Brennan, who draws for The Beano, has been showing students how to create cartoons this year.
Alternatively students can spend the whole week designing and making their own surfboard with Mr Scott. This year the students who chose this option had the added benefit of tuition in spray painting from talented artist Cosmic!
Year 10 Work Experience placement student, Callum Hendry, has been photographing in-school activities over the last 2 days. Please follow the links to galleries for some of the activities students have been enjoying.
