In June 2014, Truro hosted the Cornwall School Games - an annual celebration of sport for students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, which saw 3000 students from across the county competing in over 40 different sporting categories.
The event started with a grand opening ceremony which was held at Richard Lander School and featured music and giant screen printed sails created by students from the Truro secondary schools working in collaboration with local artists, Phil Innes, Steve Hawker and Tony Minnion.
This year, student Games Makers brought a further creative dimension to the event with photography, t-shirt design and creative writing competitions. They also approached local businesses to ask for sponsorship to create a commemorative piece of artwork and we are very grateful to Nalders Solicitors, Piha Swimwear, Whirlwind Sports, Milestone Signs and Future Kitchens for their support. We would also like to thank Antony and Sarah Waller for their inspirational direction.
The short documentary above was made by Richard Lander School students.
