Dear Parents & Carers

You may have read the recent publication of the school performance tables, which detail that Richard Lander School students in 2017 made significantly higher than average levels of progress. This is as a result of the hard work and dedication of students and staff, coupled with a very supportive parent body. Higher than average is good on the one hand, but still below what we aspire to as a school. It is our commitment as a staff and governing body team, to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality of education and to ensure that all students have every opportunity to achieve outstanding results. That is our commitment and vision as a school.

In this regard, may I remind parents and carers of Year 11 students in particular, that their children should be doing a minimum of 2 hours’ homework and revision on weekdays with a minimum 3-4 hours’ revision on Saturday and Sunday or 6-8 hours’ over the course of the weekend. If any parent is having difficulty motivating their children to do this, or struggling to know how best to support, please contact Mrs Beech (Head of Year 11) who will be able to support. There are lots of opportunities for further directed revision at lunch time and after school, led by teaching staff.
