Well done to Daniel Whear who, as well as being an important part of the Greenpower team, is a talented Go Karter. Having competed locally for 3 years he signed up with the Daniel Ricciardo Series just before the summer.
He had an absolutely fantastic time at his first competition weekend in July and drove really well. He took part in a whole day of testing on the Saturday including attendance in their young driver academy and on Sunday he complete 3 heats and then a final. Unfortunately his kart broke down in the first heat but he finished a respectable 14th place in both of the other heats (this was out of approximately 28 drivers). As there were a lot of drivers they had to split the final into the A and B grids. The top 22 drivers competed in the Grand Prix final and the remaining 6 drivers took part in the Federation Cup final. Daniel took part in the Federation cup and started 2nd on the grid. He drove an absolutely fantastic race and finished the final in 1st place!
As winner of the Federation cup he received his first trophy which he was absolutely thrilled about. To top of what was an already fantastic weekend the F1 driver, Daniel Ricciardo himself, turned up unexpectedly. Daniel was thrilled to meet him and he got some photos taken and had his helmet, race suit and a top signed.
Daniel has further competitions this autumn and we really look forward to following his progress!
