Drama club took a trip to the County Records Office last week. Our mission was to find out more about the Cornish Astronomer John Couch Adams. Why? You may ask? Who was he?? Well…
We are very pleased to be taking part in this year’s secondary drama showcase ‘Making Headlines.’ This is the seventh annual showcase, and this year’s event is a co-production with the Hall for Cornwall and the Cornwall Record Office. 4 new short plays have been commissioned especially for the showcase.
Richard Lander Drama club years 7 and 8 are performing “From Cornwall to the Cosmos” which is a ten minute play written by local theatre company Owd’ya do and is all about the life of John Couch Adams.
John Couch Adams was born in Lidcot, Cornwall. The Cornish name Couch is pronounced "cooch". His most famous achievement was predicting the existence and position of Neptune, using only mathematics. This child genius received little recognition at the time but the ‘Stories from the archives’ showcase will bring his story to life. It promises to be a wonderful evening.
The showcase is on 1st Feb 2016 at the Hall for Cornwall. Tickets available now at Hall for Cornwall box office 7.30 pm Tel 01872 262466
