Cornwall Young Author Competition

Added 4 years ago

Congratulations to Emily Haddrell who won the Gold award for her story ‘The Beast of Bodmin Moor’  in the 11-13 age category of the Cornwall Young Author Competition. Well done also to  Alicia Buckley, Tom Finlay and Jack Clatworthy who were shortlisted. The shortlist of thirty stories were chosen by TJ INK who ran the competition and the overall winner from each of the 3 age categories was chosen by author, Andrew Beasley. The overall winner from each category won a copy of Andrew’s thrilling book ‘The Battles of Ben Kingdom: The Claws of Evil’, a personal letter from the author and the chance to have an extract of their story read out on BBC Radio Cornwall!

As Emily, pictured left,  is an excellent public speaker as well as an imaginative author, she read her story out to the Radio Cornwall production team last week and this was broadcasted on Friday 4th March.

All 4 shortlisted students will have their work published in an anthology.
