Promising Performance as Year 7 Hockey Team get to Final in First Ever County Hockey Tournament

Added 4 years ago

Last Thursday, our Year 7 girls attended their first ever county hockey tournament held at Penair school.

They played extremely well during the initial group stage and were placed top after beating all opponents.
Results:
3-1 win over Penair
5-0 win over Bude
9-0 win over Cape Cornwall
6-0 win over Liskeard ‘B’
In the quarter final, they beat Liskeard ‘A’ 3-0, which gave them bags of confidence going into the semi-final.  Here they had a superb win over Penryn 4-0.

And so to the final…………….once again we were up against Truro School!  Lander took the lead and certainly created lots of chances but Truro School equalized just before half time.  The second half saw both teams constantly on the attack, but unfortunately it was Truro who scored with 2 minutes to go from another penalty corner.  Lander tried their hardest to equalize, but the final whistle came too soon.
The Year 7 squad should be really proud of themselves and are certainly a force to be reckoned with; can’t wait for next year!
