Success at the Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition

Added 3 years ago

Well done to our Mock Trial team who competed against Looe Community Academy At Truro Magistrates Court last Friday and won the local round of the competition. The Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition, which has been running annually since 1994, introduces the legal system to young people in an innovative and exciting way.

In the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates and court staff, students prosecute and defend specially written criminal cases. Teams compete against each other in real Magistrates' courts in front of real magistrates.
The team has been working very hard in preparation for the event with the help of a Magistrate who has been coming into school to work with the team. Every student played their character fantastically and performed  with such confidence while in the courtroom.

The team are now preparing themselves for the next round of the competition which will take place in Newport in May.
The Mock Trial team are Megan Llewellyn, Tabitha Lester-Smith, Freya Cooper, Jess Georglin, Joe Barber, Ethan Williamson-Bates, Tabby Lester-Smith, Nesta Griffths, Zena Baulk, Sophie Gibbons, Katie Martin, Corey Olive and are pictured here with Mr Forward and Miss Squires.
