Update from the Music Department

Added 3 years ago

We are delighted to introduce our new Head of Music, Miss S Jones:

‘Welcome! There are lots of new and fantastic clubs running every lunch time in the Music Department. Come along and try something new. All year groups are warmly welcome. These clubs will lead to exciting school performances and trips! Students can obtain an ‘Early Lunch Pass’ so they can beat the lunch time queues and get to their music clubs which start at 1:15pm.'

Students have been enjoying world music lessons this term with Miss  Jones teaching African drumming and Mrs Whomersley teaching Indonesian Gabion, using instruments which we have on loan. After half term classes will swap instruments so everyone should have a chance to try both.

Instrumental lessons at school

If your child would like to learn an instrument outside of the music curriculum timetable, they may do so with one of The Cornwall Music Trust peripatetic instrumental teachers, who visit school on a daily basis. There is a wide range of instrumental lessons to choose from including instruments from the Classical Orchestra as well as rock and pop instruments and vocal tuition. Please visit http://cornwallmusicservicetrust.org/signup/ to sign up online for lessons. You may choose solo or group lessons for your child, and the fee varies accordingly.

All prices and where to hire an instrument can be found on this website. Your child may also be eligible for subsidised lessons. Please see the flyer later in this bulletin or contact Miss Jones, pictured below, for more information:
