In July 2024, students embarked on an unforgettable school trip to the stunning region of Sorrento, Italy. From the moment they landed (after a slight delay), the journey was filled with incredible experiences that immersed students in the vibrant culture, rich history, and delectable cuisine of the Amalfi Coast.
The adventure began with a much-needed treat as students headed straight for an ice cream demonstration upon arrival. Learning about traditional gelato-making techniques was a highlight, and sampling four different flavours of sorbet and gelato was a delicious way to kick off the trip.
The culinary journey continued with a visit to a pasta factory, where students were amazed to see the largest pasta shell in the world, made right on site. They gained insight into the intricate process of pasta production and even picked up some unique treats to bring back home. Another standout activity was a hands-on pizza-making session where students tried their hand at spinning dough before enjoying their freshly made pizzas. This was followed by a visit to a buffalo mozzarella farm, where they learned about the care given to the buffalo, including massages and classical music, which resulted in some of the creamiest mozzarella they had ever tasted.
Beyond the culinary delights, students explored the breath-taking landscapes of the region. A day trip to the island of Capri offered stunning views, exploration of the charming Marina Grande, and a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters. They also visited the ancient city of Pompeii, where the captivating history of the ruins left a lasting impression.
Driving along the Amalfi Coast, students marvelled at the picturesque towns of Ravello and Positano. The dramatic coastal scenery and charming streets added an unforgettable element of beauty and adventure to the trip. The balance of cultural immersion, relaxation, and exploration made each day a unique experience.
The final day was spent shopping for last-minute souvenirs at a large shopping centre before heading to the airport for their return flight. The trip wasn’t just about the incredible destinations; it was also about the friendships and memories made. For some students, this was a chance to step out of their comfort zones and form new bonds, and they embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly.
The Sorrento Team praised the students for their resilience, enthusiasm, and ability to make the most of every moment. This trip was a resounding success, showcasing the wonders of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast while leaving students with memories that will last a lifetime.
