Curriculum: School Garden

Following the Restorative Justice - Tackling Youth Loneliness session, our student facilitators fed back that students wanted a school garden where people could go, talk, relax, be themselves and find common ground to help them to feel less lonely. Richard Lander School had previously had a very successful gardening club but the garden had fallen into disrepair, so in 2019 Mrs Mitchell, Mr Cook and a team of students set about fixing the shed and raised beds, then planting and nurturing seedlings. The fruits of their first year's labours were enjoyed at a celebratory lunch during Year 6 Activities Week. Please click on the thumbnail above to view a film about the school garden on YouTube.
