Richard Lander School is situated in Truro to the west of the city centre and serves the beautiful coastal communities of St Agnes, Porthtowan and Perranporth as well as communities closer at hand. It is an 11-16 community maintained school, which is highly regarded in the area and oversubscribed.

The Role: The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an inspiring and engaging MFL teacher with specialisms in French and Spanish who would be able to come and work with us. Experience of teaching French and Spanish at KS3 and KS4 would be an advantage.

Attendance and Educational Improvement Officer

The Role: An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an Attendance and Educational Improvement Officer at Richard Lander School. The main purpose of this role is to contribute to raising achievement by improving school attendance. To assist the school in meeting their obligations and targets in relation to school attendance, especially punctuality and persistent absence. To help identify target groups of students and monitor patterns of absence. To promote positive attitudes by students and families towards education and to ensure that parents/carers are made fully aware of their statutory responsibilities. To attend attendance monitoring meetings within school and organise meetings with parents. To make unsupervised contact with families in their own homes and elsewhere to assess the reasons impacting on the attendance of individual students, facilitating their return to access to regular full time education provision. To establish and develop a professional service to support the school in raising attendance, investigating persistent absences and improving punctuality. To support the attendance administration officer with regards to ensuring registers are completed accurately and in good time.

Duty Manager/Attendance Officer

The Role: An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Duty Manager/Attendance Officer at Richard Lander School. The main purpose of this role is to contribute to Health and Safety by organising duty staffing and raising achievement by improving school attendance. To assist the school in meeting their obligations and targets in relation to Health and Safety regulation and school attendance, especially truancy. To promote safe supervision and management of students during break time, lunchtime and lesson transition times and promote positive attitudes by students towards lesson attendance and punctuality. To support the attendance team in identifying and managing students absent from lessons and improve punctuality. As necessary support the attendance team in making contact with families in their own homes and elsewhere, facilitating students return to access regular full time education provision.

Cover Supervisor

The Role: The opportunity has arisen to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our team at Richard Lander School. The main purpose of this job is to provide effective cover supervision in a range of classes and subjects in response to unforeseen short-term teacher absence, ensuring good order is maintained in the classroom and pupils keep to task. Teaching Assistant

The Role: To take a pro-active role in the support of the educational, social and physical needs of pupils; to support the curriculum and the school through the provision of a high level of assistance in the practical organisation of support activities, undertaking group work and ensuring the welfare and development of pupils.

We currently have several positions available. Some may be offered as one year fixed term appointments and others permanent (following a 6 month probationary period), depending on experience and circumstances. This will be discussed with candidates at interview.

Exam Invigilators

We are looking to recruit additional invigilating staff.

The Role: To conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and Richard Lander School instructions. To play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination assessment process.
