Physical Education has a significant role in shaping young people's physical, personal and social development. Of course it is about sporting excellence and achievement. But it is also about self-esteem, personal target setting and making the right choices about healthy living.
Physical Education and School Sport play a key role in the personal development of young people. While participating students develop cooperation, resilience, confidence, honesty and integrity. They display independence, self-management and leadership. These skills will aid our young people in other areas of their lives both at school and beyond, shaping their futures.
In addition to PE lessons there is also comprehensive extra-curricular sport provision, during the lunch hour, after school and through representing the school in a range of competitive individual and team sports.
Richard Lander School is committed to maintaining the offer of PE lessons and extra-curricular sporting opportunities throughout a student's time at school, allowing each student to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle with opportunities to make informed choices about their future involvement in physical activity and sport.
