On behalf of the governing body, welcome to Richard Lander School.
I feel privileged to have taken over the role of Chair of Governors at Richard Lander School having served on the governing body for nearly 20 years. My ongoing aim is to ensure that all students have the best opportunities to learn and gain life experiences that will help guide their futures.
I am sure that any visitor to the school will be impressed with the atmosphere and ethos of the school where student safety and learning are evident throughout.
The governors and staff are committed to ensuring that every student is challenged to success whatever their background or ability alongside ensuring their well-being as citizens is fully supported. The role of the governors is to provide strategic input and challenge to the Headteacher to ensure the school provides the best possible environment and opportunities for students and staff. It is an honour to be amongst a great team of governors and staff serving Richard Lander and wider community.
Our governors play a very important and active role in helping the school provide the best possible education for all students.
A good governor has many skills and qualities including:
Within our governing body we have 4 committees.
These are Personnel, Finance and General Purpose, Students and Curriculum and Policy.
These committees report back to the main governing body at the end of each term.
