If you've arrived at this page, you must be considering joining Richard Lander School. Welcome!
Your first, in person, visit to Richard Lander School journey may well be for your Year 6 Induction Days. You will be invited into school in July 2021 for taster lessons and a design, build, race activity.
If you enjoy PE, Sports Day will be a highlight of your school year. This year we held a virtual sports day where students were invited to take part in different challenges every day from home, but usually RLS Sports Day sees the whole school outside on the sports field taking part in events, cheering their learning communities on, playing volley ball and football for fun, eating ice cream and having a wonderful day!
At Richard Lander School, we love to hold charity days where the whole school get involved in raising money for a worthy cause, in VERY creative ways! Our Children in Need effort last year resulted in some of our students being invited to take part in the Children in Need LIVE event at the Tate Gallery, St Ives.
The Music department at Richard Lander School are passionate about getting as many students as possible involved in making music. At Christmas, students have the opportunity to perform in Truro Cathedral for our Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, or to dress up in Christmas jumpers and tinsel and entertain parents at our Informal Carol Service. If you prefer rock music you might join an existing school band or form one of your own; the teachers will be delighted to support you and you might even enter our biennial summer event - Lander's Got Talent.
There are lots of Richard Lander School trips for you to look forward to. Year 7 students love the Ardeche Water Sports Adventure, Key Stage 3 students delight in the the DT Food trip to Italy, Year 9 students bond with each other over team games and challenges at School Camp, and in Year 10 students have the opportunity to visit Iceland or Uganda! There are also Creative Arts and DT day trips to London, regular Duke of Edinburgh and Ten Tors day walks and camping weekends and many, many local days out to galleries, museums and special events!
You might be wondering how we coped with lockdown. Well... it was certainly challenging for us all, but this film will give you an idea of how we took care of each other and our wider community.
